Professional Kettlebell Trainer & Coach
Instructor Training/Self improvement Program & Certified Kettlebell Trainer Course Description
Fitnessxt has established a set of guidelines for the training of future instructors. We feel it is important to keep the integrity of the sport and the level of quality very high. Therefore applicants will receive a pre-certification packet so that they can train at their own pace for the requirements to achieve this stringent level at the certification.
Included in this package, each interested party would be required to view several YouTube Instructional links and practice the techniques as outlined in the videos & package information. You’ll be asked to commit to investing approximately 12 hours into observing and practicing as to become more proficient, to improve your skills and develop your understanding of the details outlined.
Then there will be 4 separate meetings (scheduled at a mutually convenient time for you and myself) of actual hands on training that will focus on breaking down each of the major lifts, giving you a full understanding of how to properly execute them….using the proper sequencing of the hip/glute/core musculature to power the lifts.
At each meeting we will progress through the training outlined in the videos, then I’ll work with you on how to spot common bio-mechanical problems when training others, breathing & spinal/core stabilization, the difference between Hard Style & GS Style lifts and so much more. At the end you will be required to demonstrate your ability to teach the lifts.
We have a high focus on client safety and in the course will spend several hours on how to achieve this. We’ll also cover everything you need to know about operating a Kettlebell business, how to structure classes, personal training, basic nutrition and will include some self-analysis to get you thinking about how you want to apply your training &/or fitness career.
You’ll be taught how to design & teach group classes so, at the end of your sessions you will feel confident that you can not only utilize the Kettlebell x-training safely and properly, but you can convey that to your clients as well. You will also be asked to attend one Intro to Kettlebell Workshop to observe and work hands with another certified instructor on how to teach and correct newbies to the sport, as well as assistant teach at one group Kettlebell class before testing.
Fitnessxt is backed by the knowledge of RKC, AKC & The IKFF Federation, offering post-certification support and available for continuing educational workshops.
The cost of the program is $500. I feel that the quality of instruction you will be receiving is outstanding in comparison to the “Boot camp style Rite of Passage” that you would get if you traveled to one of the locations within the U.S. to complete a certification elsewhere and pay $1- $2k plus. At these certifications it seems like the focus is on how hard they can work you in a 48 hour time frame and by doing this they overlook the importance of how to improve your technique, and how to retain and pass this knowledge along to others.
Our program is always morphing as we continue learning from the Top Trainers/Masters of Sport so that we never become stagnant in our methods and technique. You will receive a certificate at the end of the program that acknowledges your status as an AKT Advanced Kettlebell Trainer, which will allow you to teach at the facility of your choice provided that it is not in a 35 mile radius of Big Rapids or Grand Rapids, MI as this falls under our 2 year no compete clause.
Let me know if you have any questions...
Thanks! Liberty Gray

If you are wondering about the difference between the different Kettlebell certifications:
There are currently 3 main Kettlebell Federations in the U.S…..
The first is the RKC which was brought to the US by Pavel Tsoutsaline who offers a 3 day weekend instructor certification in Minnesota for approximately $1500. This was the first certification I did and I was only able to absorb a small amount of information as it was more of a boot camp physical bashing and a right of passage more than an education. Pavel focuses on the "hard style" kettlebells.
Then there came along the AKC which is Valery Federneko's creation in which they teach the GS sport style kettlebells.....geared towards competition.
This also is a weekend certification and will run you anywhere from $1- $2k for the training. If you don't already have a pretty good background in Kettlebells, you won't get much out of this cert either, as he speaks very broken English and he doesn’t require you to be able to perform the lifts, just be able to teach them.
The 3rd Federation is the newest and was created by an American Steve Cotter (one of Pavel's original top instructors). He went out on his own and calls his Federation the IKFF....which is the CKT certification. This is a combination of both styles and covers general fitness and joint mobility.
This weekend training is also expensive and hard to retain in a 2 1/2 day certification.
Other's like myself, who have been through all of the certifications, are now putting on our own instructor/self improvement training sessions which I think offer you so much more in that the training is not all crammed into one weekend and covers everything from A-Z on Kettlebell technique, training others, learning to recognize incorrect bio-mechanical movements patterns and correct them, how to run/structure your own Kettlebell business, etc.
It is the teachings of both Kettlebell styles and the latest and greatest information from the top Russian Trainers.
Enjoy your journey!
